Truly, the job of teachers is not to become detectives. A teacher's role is to provide proper education and assess it fairly.
Nowadays, students rely so heavily on tools and, due to laziness and a tendency to take shortcuts, they are using them excessively. As a result, they are neither dedicating time to real learning nor gaining true knowledge. Instead, they are learning how to cheat, which can be extremely harmful to their future.
For this reason, not just educational institutions but all of us must play a conscious and responsible role.
A colleague shared an experiment that really stuck with me:
After students turn in their essays, he runs each one through AI and asks it to generate a 3-5 question quiz to test the student’s understanding of the core concepts in their own work.
The quiz becomes part of the process, not as punishment, but as a signal. It tells students: what matters most isn’t just the writing it’s the thinking behind it, the learning, the ROI of your effort.
Brilliant I think!
